“Raising Powerful Children in a Broken World” by Joy Beirne.

Author Joy Beirne was a Christian Education Director for 15 years as well as an elementary school teacher.  She has taught parenting workshops on fearless parenting and children’s motivational gifts.  Joy’s passion is to teach biblical truths that help families grow in the power and security of love, forgiveness and trust.  She and her husband have three grown children.

“Raising Powerful Children in a Broken World” is the theme of Joy’s presentation.   A lot of books offer advice on how to parent children – this book teaches why.  When you understand the “why”, you can parent with faith, rather than with fear of making mistakes.

Meet Anneliese Heider Tisdale.  Listen to her riveting story of life in WW II Germany and about her own family’s personal experiences prior to and through the war years.  The red and green flares used by Allied Aircraft during the bombing raids on German cities became the impetus for the title of Anneliese’s new first book “Christmas Trees in the Sky” – the kind of vivid image a child never forgets.  Anneliese was 11 years old when the war began and her richly detailed book reveals a childhood lost to prolonged frightening circumstances.  After the war, Anneliese worked as an interpreter for the U.S. Military Government and eventually moved to the United States becoming a citizen in 1950.  After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa, she taught foreign languages in Cedar Rapids, IA for almost 30 years where she still lives with her husband.  She is the mother of three, and the ‘bonus’ mother of four. Signed copies of Anneliese’s books will be available for purchase before and after her presentation.

Luncheon following will feature a recipe or two from Anneliese’s book – her family’s recipes are sprinkled frequently throughout its chapters as they conjure up memories of her childhood experiences.  Cost of this 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning event is $10.50 with Luncheon included.  Tax and gratuity not included.  Limited Seating.   Pre-Register!
